Contents of teaching: | - Students will get to know the relevance of animal models in life science research.
- They will be introduced into the basics of animal care and the animal law. Furthermore, students will get to know alternative approaches fo animal experiments.
- Students will get to know the physiology of relevant animals in research (mouse, rat, fly worm, fish).
- They will especially introduced into animal models for nutritional and metabolic research, immunological and infection research, cancer and inflammation research, aging and behavioral research as well as for neurological disorders.
- In addition, students get insights into genetic models and the corresponding technologies such as knock out and transgenic approaches, CRISPR-Cas etc.).

- Students will get knowledge about alternatives to animal experiments.
- They will develop advanced knowledge of species specific physiology and anatomy.
- Students will develop advanced knowledge of genetic animal models.
- They will develop profound knowledge of disease specific animal models used in Life science research.
