On 11 November 2010, the support and grouping of cultural studies in Lübeck was embodied in the newly established
Lübeck Centre for Cultural Studies & Research (ZKFL)
. ZKFL is a centre at the Universität zu Lübeck that functions in partnership with the
Hanseatic City of Lübeck

At the Universität zu Lübeck, ZKFL members include the
Institute for Medical History and Science Research (IMGWF)
,
the Institute for Multimedia and Interactive Systems
and
the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology.
From the city, ZKFL members include the
LÜBECKER MUSEEN (a cultural foundation)

Archives of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck
,
the City Library
and the
Archaeology and Landmark Agency of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck
.
ZKFL is co-directed by two spokespersons:
Prof. Dr. Cornelius Borck
and
Dr. Tilmann von Stockhausen
.
ZKFL is planned as a sustainable long-term initiative to embed research in the field of cultural studies in Lübeck. It strives to use resources intelligently and attract innovative research projects and dedicated researchers to Lübeck. Moreover, ZKFL’s charter is to strategically network all cultural facilities in Lübeck, develop a research programme and actively foster its accomplishment.
