In this three-year programme leading to a bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.), you gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in physics, with emphasis in fields of particular relevance to natural sciences, such as biochemistry, biology and chemistry.
Our bachelor’s degree will open the doors to a career and to the option of a consecutive programme – a master’s degree in biophysics at our Universität zu Lübeck, which is presently being fine-tuned.
The first year of the programme focusses on imparting a solid background in mathematics and physics, and the second year expands your knowledge, especially in physics. The first five semesters enhance your fundamental knowledge of related natural sciences, i.e., chemistry, biology, biochemistry and physiology.
In the advanced semesters, you will attend in-depth lectures to enhance your knowledge of principles in the fields of life sciences of relevance to current research from a physics perspective. These will also prepare you for your bachelor’s thesis due in the sixth semester.
The programme is structured as modules in line with ECTS (
European Credit Transfer System
). This makes it possible to take advantage of foreign partner university programmes and to elect courses from other programmes at the Universität zu Lübeck, such as Molecular Life Science, Computational Life Science, Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics.
