Founders’ Prize by the Sparkasse zu Lübeck

UniFounder Award 2010

The company OptoMedical Technologies Ltd. was awarded the Uni founder prize 2010 of the Sparkasse zu Lübeck The prize ceremony was held at the town hall of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. Managing director Dr. Eva Lankenau from the Institute of Biomedical Optics, University of Lübeck, received the 10.000 euro prize at a ceremony, where the president of the CDU faction in the Schleswig-Holstein Parliament, Dr. Christian von Boettcher, was also present. The company, founded in January 2010 out of the University institute, produces and sells a universally applicable camera for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).  The OCT, still a young imaging method, is also called "ultrasound with light" It permits the presentation of tissue structures a couple of millimeters under the skin, with a resolution of up to five millimeter. In contrast to ultrasound, no tissue contact is necessary here. OptoMedical Technologies' unique selling proposition are long signal-stable fiber optic cables and the facilitation of an intraoperative use of OCT. Moreover, the product's universality as supply for several established medical imaging products. With this, the universal OCT camera is currently a new and unique product worldwide.
